A Brief History of Music Stickers
Stickers have become a popular way for fans to express their loyalty while also spreading the name of their favorite artists. Their history dates back to the 1960s and ’70s, when rock bands like The Rolling Stones and Grateful Dead began creating bold, recognizable logos that appeared not only on albums but also on stickers, posters, and cars.
One of the most iconic music stickers in history is without a doubt the red tongue logo of The Rolling Stones, designed by British artist John Pasche in 1970. It first appeared on the album Sticky Fingers, but quickly became a global symbol of rebellion and rock’n’roll spirit. This sticker is still being produced and sold today, and remains one of the most recognized music logos ever.
In the 1980s and ’90s, music stickers became a key part of punk and metal subcultures, as fans used them to cover guitar cases, skateboards, and public spaces as part of the DIY aesthetic. Even today, stickers are an important promotional tool for independent artists, often handed out at shows or included with merch.
